I am filing a complaint against you! Yes you, Sugar Glider Directory’s Complaint Department. My complaint is that this bullshit shouldn’t even be necessary. I am not interested in your drama, and I have no intention of drowning in your complaints all day. This is not how I am going down.
I don’t know the glider drama factions, and I don’t want to learn them. Hopefully the glider community will prefer SGD remain apathetic and uninterested enough to keep me that way. If this complaint department gets outta hand, I’ll outsource this unpleasant task to a glider dramarcheologist with X-ray eyes that will expose every skeleton, even if she has to rip them out their bodies.
I hereby invoke a temporal Somebody Else’s Problem field around you, SGD Complaints Department. Voila! Thanks to my nerd magic, you cannot hold an awareness of any community bullshit that predates your birth. I’m not interested in spending my life documenting the past 30 years of shit. See, if you became a tool to dig up old grudges and sins from years past, I’d never get anything else done. So, I’m only going to process complaints from 2020 forward, and I will straight out delete any Glider Community Drama clips from previous seasons so I don’t get bogged down watching fuzzy old reruns. Yup, nerd magic is all about owning the complaints department and not being afraid to be a fascist about it, learned that spell from Zuckerberg’s grimoire.
I pledge to remove the blatant scammers using stolen pics and such nonsense as fast as I learn of them, but community members will get to stay for the most part. For as long as they choose to stay, so will a history of the complaints against them (yea, even resolved ones). I really don’t want to turn this directory into an exclusionary resource over purist politics, so you’re my compromise, an outlet and public record for complaints against SGD entries. Cause our community does need to purge the predatory and push some basic standards. You better be worth this headache, SGD complaints department.
Guidelines for Complaints
Complaints are for the dangerous stuff that red flags a community member. Slow shipping or crabby joey issues don’t belong here. Complaints are kept sacred to keep them useful, other stuff can go on reviews please.
If your complaint is about something that harms gliders, and something for which a warning to the community would prevent further harm, then you have my attention. I suggest you explicitly explain these two points in your complaint.
Complaints are intended for an individual community service provider, product, website, vet clinic, etc listed on The Sugar Glider Directory. If your complaint is about someone not already listed then it must be very damaging to overcome the epic Somebody Else’s Problem field protecting this place.
I will pass along the public portion of the complaint to its recipient via contact information on their Directory entry at least 24 hours before a complaint is published. I will request a response to be published along with it, but won’t necessarily wait for a response before publishing. Responses can be added later too, but response submissions will go into my processing queue after the complaint is published and may therefore have a long delay.
I will mostly publish personal experiences. I’m not publicizing your Uncle Sally’s overheard rumor from The Gossip’s Revenge Tavern. If I later hear about this from a direct participant, then I will be informed by your valuable perspective. Thanks for the tip, I sincerely appreciate the information.
Anonymous complaints are allowed, but if I am playing guess who on a dubious claim, then it’s not likely to get published. Thanks for the tip anon, but I don’t know you so I’m not going to trash my own community for you.
Don’t name drop third parties. If they are integral to the narrative their names will be hidden in the published complaint. Quoted public text will be REDACTED; unquoted public text will be paraphrased to drop the identifying references.
Spelling and grammar are unrealistically important to me. I donut wanna deseyefer year talk to tests word salad dressings and automotive complete failure s. Reread and edit before you send it to me if you want me to understand you. I do speak fluent typo and will not toss a complaint over a missing semi-colon, but please make the effort.
I will edit your public complaints to read well, flow well, and correct basic spelling and grammar mistakes. My intention is not to change the meaning or style, but to convey the messages clearly and with some damn professionalism. I know I am not the only reader that takes points off credibility when reading a word salad.
You are allowed to fucking swear on here. Sorry kids; The internet is a bad place. Better you found out here than learn it by stumbling upon wwvv.FreePr0nForSuckers/NoVirusScannerDetected.scam. I won’t edit out swear words or insults. Your words, your fight, your problems.
There are some insults that will trigger my SJW attack routines, and you instantly lose me as your ally and mouthpiece the moment I sniff a whiff of that bullshit in my complaints inbox.
I will forever and in perpetuity be the sole final arbiter of all decisions concerning this complaints department, even if I’m not the one making them at the time.
My site, my rules, and I retain my veto and editing powers over any other login user’s entries. Having a login gives you no authority over my decisions, nor any ownership rights to my website, nor any entitlement to compensation generated from my website or anyone associated with SGD.
Disclaimers
My site my rules. You want to overrule me? You better have a damn good reason to appeal. My husband is the appeals court, and he loves me more than he cares about your drama.
Stuff in the private box will not be published on the SGD complaint. That’s the only promise you get on that. I’m not your secret-keeper. If you tell me something in the private box, that becomes my knowledge to act on how I see fit. No pinky swears, no promises, it just won’t be published on the complaint.
Submitting a complaint means you are guaranteed that someday I might read its title. That’s all you get for promises. If your complaint is about something that harms gliders, and something for which a warning to the community would prevent further harm, then you have my attention. I suggest you explicitly explain these two points in your complaint to sway me.
Being registered on the Directory is in no way to be considered as being on an AVL, nor having “been approved.” I’m not a vendor, nor a product tester. Don’t send me stuff thinking that will get you any special treatment or accreditation or approvals. Send me stuff because I like free stuff and will pass it on to glider visitors and new owners.
Complaints about unsafe toy parts, unsafe stitches, and other vendor peculiarities will get referred to someone who knows the difference between a box stitch and a cross stitch. I don’t even know if I made those up or not, so don’t expect me to settle your debates without consultation. This may include crowd sourcing the question, but I’ll do my best to be respectful and discreet if it’s a community hot spot.
In general, published complaints will be my paraphrasing of someone else’s words. That someone may or may not identify themselves in the complaint, and the paraphrasing may or may not be worded in the first person. Please politely ask me if the particular wording on a complaint was mine or the original author’s before reacting to minor discrepancies so you know which of us to scold.
If you do not wish for my editing service on any part of your public complaint, put quotations around that part and I will know not to make changes if I post it. Or you can use “” on its own line at the very beginning of the text box to tell me not to paraphrase or edit anything in that text box. I may still REDACT if needed.
All of this is subject to change, reinterpretation, automation, and outsourcing to someone else.
Complaints I will probably publish
Complaints about scammers are desired. I will make every effort to purge scam artists as my first priority.
Complaints about unsafe products are welcome, please include as much evidence as possible. Please don’t read this as an invitation to diet wars my complaint box.
Complaints about un-lineaged breeding are welcome. Rehoming an un-lineaged glider bred elsewhere does not count. Breeding on a pet-only contract does count. “Oops babies” do count. If the situation was squicky enough that someone wasted time to complain about it here, it’s probably gonna count. Breeders will not necessarily be pulled out of the Directory for un-lineaged breeding if that’s not their general practice, but don’t expect much leeway here.
Complaints dealing with violations of my ethics will probably be published. I am generally a fan of consequentialism. I care most about actions and products that harmed gliders, and how warning the community will prevent more harm to gliders in the future.
Complaints I probably won’t publish
I’m not going to publish complaints about myself. I was the youngest sibling, and I’ve already had my fill of playing “Why are you hitting yourself?” I’m not publishing them, but I do read them. If they are warranted, I’ll listen to them with an open mind when I’m done being mad about it.
Complaints about your treatment at the hands of an AVL test process will be ignored. You signed up for that boot camp of your own free will. If you’re strong enough to survive it, please go suggest yourself as a vendor here with my deep respect for your creative talent.
Complaints against entire groups will be mocked and discarded. Sorry members of SGXYZ group, I don’t care that you hate the Gliderz4Lyfe group, and if you check the member lists, half of your people are in both anyway.
Complaints about medical situations probably won’t be published. Medical information about gliders is widely misunderstood, miscommunicated, and misinterpreted by people at all levels of education, so I will not pretend to know enough to make judgement calls on who’s to blame for a medically unexplained glider death. I am still very interested in collecting that information for my own personal knowledge so feel free to submit about them anyway.
